Motorola ML 910

Moto updates its vertical market rugged notebook
(by Conrad H. Blickenstorfer)

The Motorola ML910, introduced in March of 2007, is the successor of the company's ML900. It is a rugged notebook designed primarily for vertical and governmental markets, with special emphasis on fire, law enforcement, ENS, military, utility and public services.

The new machine carries over the handsome black and silver design of its predecessor, with the large Motorola logo on top of the unit. Motorola gave its flagship rugged notebook a thorough technology update, replacing the old Pentium 4 with a speedier and more efficient 1.66MHz Intel Core Duo, more memory, and a dedicated ATI Radeon X1400 video processor for faster screen updates. The 13.3-inch display now features the trendy wide aspect ratio format and is rated at 500 NIT for improved daylight readability.

Being a giant in the communications business, Motorola made sure the ML 910 is well connected. The machine is designed from the ground up for wireless communications, with superb RF antenna performance and options for embedded EVDO or HSDPA modems. It is also integrated with MOTOMESH, the 4.9GHz multi-band radio network for public safety users and can be integrated with private DataTAC networks.

On the safety side, the ML 910 comes with an integrated high resolution fingerprint scanner, TPM version 1.2, an optional Smart Card reader, and the software to support it all.
