General Dynamics Itronix introduces Android-based GD300 wearable computer
General Dynamics Itronix announced the GD300, a small wearable computer that combines rugged computing, GPS and data communication into one device specifically designed to provide access to tactical networks and enhance situational awareness. Interestingly, the GD300, which has a 3.5-inch 800 x 480 pixel touch display, runs the Android OS, making it probably the first ruggedized device from a major provider to use Android instead of Windows CE/Mobile. Avnet signs distribution agreement with GD-Itronix Avnet Technology Solutions, an operating group of US$7 billion Avnet, Inc., and General Dynamics Itronix announced a pan-European distribution agreement for GD-Itronix's wireless, rugged computing solutions, including rugged laptops, tablet PCs and Ultra Mobile PCs. GD-Itronix GD6000 selected by CPS Energy The vehicle-rugged GD6000, manufactured by General Dynamics Itronix, was selected by Texas-based CPS Energy as the rugged computer for its field-service technicians and as part of its emergency response process.
